Imperious

Imperious being the word of the weekend it seems appropriate to use it to describe our team, the mighty Chelsea. I must admit we were slightly disappointed that they only won 4-0 against a plucky but ultimately outclassed Blackpool. The Blackpool supporters, massed in orange in the away corner, like ranks of security, like roosting seagulls in the setting sun, were loud and enthusiastic, baiting us with their chants – YOU’RE NOT AS GOOD AS ARSENAL and HOW SHIT ARE YOU, YOU ONLY GOT FOUR – to which we replied with the slightly obtuse – WORK IN THE SUMMER, YOU ONLY WORK IN THE SUMMER. Still the Chelsea athletes totally dominated Blackpool’s jobbing footballers and we all went home happy. And I was thinking, well, nothing in particular for a change just – good day, good day, imperious.
