More stuff about the music and stories on this week’s Melodica. All the shows are archived on the Chris Coco page at Mixcloud. Melodica chart on Juno Download: here. THAT FUZZY FEELING: TONTELAS – THE FLOOD Tontelas are actually dubby chillout act Boozoo Bajou in disguise. Find this on the b side of their current single En Do on the mighty Gamm records label. FLOSSY Flossy aka Mike Gill comes with a great re-version/cover of Roxy Music’s In Every Dream Home A Heartache, updating in an effective, authentic Balearic manner. The original can be found of Roxy’s 1973 album For Your Pleasure. NICK DRAKE COVERS The Elton John cover of Nick Drake’s Saturday’s Sun is from a session that too place in 1970, arranged by legendary producer Joe Boyd to showcase some new songs. It was before Elton became famous and sees him in sensitive, singer songwriter mode. More info here and here. The Katell Keineg cover of River Man appears on the EP What’s The Only Thing Worse Than The End Of Time, that came out in 2002. ROBIN PECKNOLD AND ‘FLEET FOXES’ Robin Pecknold, lead singer from Fleet Foxes covers the cult band Magnetic Fields’ The Book Of Love on this week’s show. The original comes from the album 69 love song, that came out in 2004. It really does feature 69 tracks, presumably all love songs. The hear more Fleet Foxes covers check this story on the excellent CoverMeSongs website. But remember all is not as it seems. cover me. MONSTER RALLY Strange echoes from the past, the 50s and 60s chopped up and reassembled in ones and zeroes, on this album that I discovered on Bandcamp. If you want it you choose how much you pay.
