Revolution within tent

Just been down to New Change, E4. Looking for signs of change around St Paul’s, down there at the tent village in the heart of the city. I want to contribute, to take part, but I don’t know how, so for now I just shoot, then cycle home. It’s funny, I normally enjoy being in a minority, but here the standout slogan is -we are the 99%, (where the other 1% are the people who have most of the money). It’s great to see people taking a stand instead of just taking pictures. I think the city hope this lot are more likely to be beaten by the weather than a police baton on the head. With winter coming they may be correct. But the people here, in the tents, are undoubtedly in the right. It is evidently time for our governments to make plans for the people, not their powerful pals who already have, literally, more money than they know what to do with. This is about finding a new, fairer way of living, with less consuming and more community; less power play and more pure play; success without excess; enough instead of far too much. Simple really.

New Melodica group on Mixcloud. So, this is the start of the Melodica group, my own radio stream made of my Cloudcasts and some others that I really like. This is great, now I can have all my favourite mixes in one place, and you can listen to Coco music all day (and night).

More stuff about the music and stories on this week’s Melodica. All the shows are archived on the Chris Coco page at Mixcloud. Melodica chart on Juno Download: here. THE SHOW After a few weeks on location we’re back in the studio for a catch-up session. So much new music… THAT FUZZY FEELING: VOICES OF BLACK – HER FLOWER EP After the rather wonderful Have You To Myself EP, Brooklyn boys Baba Ali and Jules Born, aka Voices Of Black, are back with more cool, laidback, electronic dance music. That Fuzzy Feeling for the whole EP which we will be exploring in the coming weeks. SAMANTA WHATES 06 Black & Blue – Dark Nights make for Brighter Days by samantha whates Something from some time Coco collaborator Samantha Whates. Black and Blue is taken from the lovely new album Dark Nights Make For Brighter Days. It’s folky, it heavily influenced by the early 70s sound of Nick Drake and, as the album title suggests, it’s melancholy but ultimately uplifting. BLESS THE WEATHER Hippy musings, the title track from the classic folky album Bless The Weather, released in Island Records in November 1971. This is proper stormy sunset gear, still sounding incredibly fresh. ATLAS SOUND Atlas Sound’s new album Parallax is released on 4AD on November 8. The first tune to surface on the web it the rather epic and extremely terrific Terra Incognita. The scarily thin looking Bradford Cox sounds like he is onto something pretty classic with this release. 4AD website
