Follow Chris Coco on MixcloudTHAT FUZZY FEELING: AIRHEAD – WAIT R&S continue to amaze and surprise us with this glorious slice of electro-acoustic cut-up trainer gaze. There’s a song in here that keeps peeping out but never completely reveals itself. It’s like the sound of your own brain thinking but not quite coming to any meaningful conclusion. It’s beautiful, strangely moving headphone music for now and the future. CSA PRISM Untitled from NICO JAAR on Vimeo. The ever-innovative Nicolas Jaar is tackling the end of CDs with a new phyiscal device to play the new music on his label, Clown & Sunset. It’s called the Prism, it’s a square metal box that is presumably some sort of mp3 player, it cost $40 and it looks like this. Interesting. THE WANDLE EP ON CASSETTE Wandle EP by deekie While Jaar flies into the future Deekie are taking a trip into the past with their new Wandle EP. It’s available on a personalised run of cassettes, each featuring your own exclusive, one off, bespoke b side. You can’t get closer to an artist than that. Not unless they come round and play in your living room. MelodicaRecordings are working with Deekie on a single release. A REMINISCENT DRIVE Jay Alanski aks A Reminiscent Drive has collaborated with Peace Lounge Records from Germany on a deluxe release of his classic 1997 album Mercy Street. It’s beautiful, simple chilled out electronic music for lazy days and late nights. This is one of the albums that inspired me to make chillout music. Well worth tracking down.

Follow Chris Coco on MixcloudTHAT FUZZY FEELING: ALABAMA SHAKES – HOLD ON Alabama Shakes EP (no longer available) preorder for Boys & Girls coming soon! by Alabama Shakes It’s time for another slightly scary looking four piece who make a beautiful noise. Think Magic Numbers from the States, think growly r&b, from when r&b wasn’t a swear word, think big guitars and massive riffs. This is soul music. T HEADS VS KC FLIGHTT VS LEFTSIDE WOBBLE Editor supreme Leftside Wobble merges two classics into a big dancefloor / festival moment. One for the virtual summer record bag. GANG COLOURS – THE KEYCHAIN COLLECTION You know how much I love Fancy Restaurant, the single from Gang Colours’ debut album, so I was really excited about listening to this. The sound of that track is spread out across the long player, the live piano, the floating electronics, the 12 bit crunchy drums. There isn’t another track as fine and focussed as Fancy Restaurant but the whole album is a great listen. One to stick on again and again and a definite for the year end top 20s. LAMBCHOP – MR M Kurt Wagner and co’s 11th long player does exactly what you expect, which is exactly what you want. The languid, plaintive, lyrical Mr W just riffs on his usual themes – music, dogs, weather, life, while the band float and tinkle around. The result is a lush musical world that’s the audio equivalent of hanging out with Kurt on his porch, as the sun sets. Totally engrossing.
