Chris Coco’s weekly radio broadcast. An eclectic selection of brilliant new music starting with house and moving on to electronica, downtempo, acoustic and all sorts of other styles loosely connected to dance and electronic music. Let tastemaker Chris Coco guide you through his selection of the week’s best new music. This episode is a bit like going out without going out – we start in the club, wander into the back room, then out into the garden, down to the beach, then end up back in the club, very late at night, so that’s house, post dubstep, folk, balearic, and after hours, sort of in that order. [setlist] 1 Eesti Pops – Back To Work (Overture) – Digital File 2 Alex Blaxx – The Evening News – Buzzin’ Fly 3 Gab Rhome – 1900 As In Gold Was Born – Supplement Facts THAT FUZZY FEELING (TUNE OF THE WEEK) 4 Casino Times – I Wanna Know – Needwant 5 Tensnake – Mainline (Dub) – Defected 6 Versa & Rowl – Theory Of One – Smokin’ Sessions 7 Letherette – Surface – Ninja Tune STRINGS, WOOD AND A BOX OF AIR 8 Blue Rose Code – Love – Reveal 9 Yo La Tengo – Well You Better – Matador 10 Django Django – Life’s A Beach (The Very Best Remix) – Because Music 11 The Beatles – Come Together – Parlophone 12 Shawn Lee – San Diego (Phil Mison Remix) – Aficionado 13 Luciano – Rise Of Angel – Cadenza
Come In, We’re Melodica compilation, coming soon.
Since I started using Instagram on the iPhone and sending pictures via that to my Tumblr and Facebook I have noticed a steep decline in my desire to write blog posts. It feels like the job has already been done by the picture. Is there less to write about than there was a few months ago or is the instant and visual nature of the technology just making me lazy. I think it’s the latter. Thought and behaviour patterns fitting into the easiest route that the technology has to offer, like water running down a hillside. Anyway, perhaps this post will jolt me out of my new habit, which, I must admit, I am not too happy about. It feels like this way of cataloguing is stripping my life of some of its poetic magic. Here are some of those instant pictures, out of context and out of time, without words, good or bad, in case you missed them.

Let tastemaker Chris Coco guide you through his selection of the week’s best new music. This episode it’s a case of trying to fit a lot of stuff into not enough time, the proverbial ship in a bottle problem, and a totally global line up, so in quick order there’s Detroit techno from Sheffield, Balearic disco from Sydney, Afro Brazilian from Germany, the end of the world in Mexico and floaty ambient from Oxford here in the UK.
