Melodicablog 02.05.11

More stuff about the music and stories on this week’s Melodica – this week it’s all about bears (sort of).

In tune with the Melodica aesthetic, covering a broad range of exciting, inspiring, beautiful new music from electronica to house to experimental.

THAT FUZZY FEELING: FATIMA – INNERVISION

A few weeks ago I featured the b-side of this single, the wonderful Red Light. Here, at last is the flip, the super-soulful, very laidback A side, in all it’s glory.

RADIOHEAD – SUPERCOLLIDER

It was a feature of their live sets in 2008; it could easily have been slotted into the King Of Limbs album; but it ended up as a limited edition 12″ release to celebrate Record Store Day. Then they gave away digital files as a thank you to everyone who bought the King Of Limbs album online. Radiohead, whether you think they are a bunch of miserable gits or the best band in the world, they keep innovating and making extraordinary music.

TRENTEMOLLER – LATE NIGHT TALES

The Danish producer has created a dark, atmospheric mix for the Late Night Tales series. It features a lot of old tunes, including music from Velvet Underground, Mazzy Star, This Mortal Coil and the Shangri-Las. It will be a bit moody for some but there are some lovely moments, including Eden Abhez’s Full Moon, featured at the start of this week’s show.

APPLEBLIM – FOUNTAINS OF PARADISE

Dubstep meets electronica meets Balearic meets old school dub on the b-side of Appleblim’s latest release. Fountains Of Paradise is a wonderful piece that will be getting another play on next week’s show.
