Melodicablog 11.04.04
More stuff about the music and stories on this weekâs Melodica – this week it’s all about bears (sort of).
In tune with the Melodica aesthetic, covering a broad range of exciting, inspiring, beautiful new music from electronica to house to experimental.

THAT FUZZY FEELING: TODD TERJE – SNOOZE 4 LOVE
There’s a new single from the Norwegian space master Todd Terje on German label Running Back. The main track is the typically groovy Ragysh, there’s also a good beats track called Bonysh, but the track I have chosen as tune of the week is the more spacy, laidback Snooze 4 Love. Apparently the vinyl version comes in rather lovely recycled sleeves.
RICHARD DORFMEISTER – PRIVATE COLLECTION
Volume Two of G Stone Records Master Series is a masterclass in how to make a contemporary downtempo chillout collection. Dorfmeister picks a selection of his favourite tracks and slots them together in a big mish mash of styles, so Nick Drake sits happily next to David Essex, John Lee Hooker and label mate Peter Kruder. This is the way to do it.
GUTI – PATIO DE JUEGOS
Guti’s playground is full of South American rhythms, bouncing basslines and spacy atmospherics. There are plenty of club tracks here but the album also works as a whole listening experience. The only frustrating thing is that some of the best grooves are the short interlude tracks. This album is out now on Loco Dice’s Desolat label.
COYOTE – ALWAYS
New on Needwant, Nottingham’s finest purveyors of Balearic beats are back with a fine track called Always. Neville Watson’s laidback house version is the one for me.
WE ARE DISCONNECTED – THE LABEL
Our friends We Are Disconnected, the blog, have started a label to showcase some up and coming talent from the world of underground electronica. The first four track EP features Deft, Hugh Pascall, Chocky and Adam Curtain. Deft is my pick of that lot.
