Melodicablog 21.03.11

More stuff about the music and stories on this week’s Melodica – this week it’s all about bears (sort of).

In tune with the Melodica aesthetic, covering a broad range of exciting, inspiring, beautiful new music from electronica to house to experimental.

THAT FUZZY FEELING: WOLF + LAMB AND SOUL CLAP – DJ KICKS

OK, it’s not just one tune but it is one coherent listening experience so it sort of counts as tune of the week. Well, sort of. What it is, though, is a great collection of modern dance music, a lot of it exclusive to this album; the sort of thing that I would love to hear in a club. It’s happening, fresh, deep and sexy and it’s going to be hard to beat as mix album of the year.

SOFT ROCKS

Check the new Soft Rocks album of cheeky remakes and re-edits. The cover is something wonderful and almost worth the cost of the CD on it’s own. These guys rock. The album features some lovely Balearic moments as well as their own brand of 70s and 80s influenced disco ranging from the very slow to the almost too fast.

FINCA AM – ELECTRONICA BALEAR

This one is quite a package, a double CD of downtempo delights plus a CD of spacy soft focus meanderings and interviews filmed in Ibiza. Once you get past the slightly too trippy artwork the album is actually a really good collection of summery sounds that will be perfect for soundtracking lazy holiday moments.

ANALOG AQUARIUM

Following the release of early house experiments from Chicago’s Virgo Four, here’s some more 80s style US electronic dance music, this time from legendary Detroit-based producer, DJ and record shop owner Rick Wilhite, all collected together for the first time on one CD.

LEVEK

And this design appears on a t-shirt celebrating the wonderful existence of the band called Levek. Need one.
