THAT FUZZY FEELING: MIGUEL MIGS – CLOSE YOUR EYES
A cool disco house single with a great Balearic, very Melodica remix from Woolfy make this release a must have and a must-use in Coco DJ sets.
A SELECTION OF EXCELLENT NEW ALBUMS
LANTERNS ON THE LAKE – GRACIOUS TIDE, TAKE ME HOME
It’s gracious, spacious and more than a little melancholy, old fashion songs wrapped up in new fangled electronica, if Mazzy Star had been brought up on the Tyne then would have sounded like this.
DEAN & BRITTA – 13 MOST BEAUTIFUL
This album was originally released in 2009 with a DVD. It soundtracks some of Andy Warhol’s classic screen tests, silent film protraits made between 1964 and 1966 at the Factory. Now here’s a limited pink re-release edition on it’s way. It’s Velvet Underground going electronic, it’s great modern music with a 60s twist.
RUEDE HAGELSTEIN & THE NOBLETTES – SOFT PACK
Ruede Hagelstein is resident DJ at Berlin’s Watergate Club. Here, on his first long player, he goes downtempo and sentimental in a very German way. This is Morr Music style electro pop that would be number one in the alternative Melodica mirror pop charts. There’s folk and jazz influences in here too making a fascinating and enetertaining album.
TYCHO – DIVE
Scott Hansen, aka desgner ISO50 aka Tycho says he is influenced by 70s proggers Yes and 90s dream tech d&ber Photek. His second album is new age glo wave, so you can hear both those influences in there as well as a load of more contemporary ones. It’s surprisingly smooth and soothing in a euphoric sort of way.
REAL ESTATE – DAYS
A dream of suburbia, soft guitar pop, some kind of Mellow, Real Estate’s second album is a floaty, bouncy joy.
