THAT FUZZY FEELING: JULIO BASHMORE – ENSNARE
A very 70s guitar and vocal line – You’re the sweetest song that I could sing – are the key elements in this Balearic meets house meets bass music beauty. What a great end to a stellar year from Bristol’s finest – Julio and the label, the blossoming Future Boogie.
SEPALCURE AND THE BEST LONG PLAYERS OF 2011
The Sepalcure album, just out on Hot Flush lives up to the hype. It could well feature in the end of the year best albums of 2011 show. Let me know your favourites by emailing melodica@granth4.sg-host.com.
Here’s Rough Trade Records’ selection.
ORION & J SHORE – BROTHERHOOD
If you’re after some really beautiful, really mellow atmosphere look no further than Finish duo Orion & J Shore. Their music sits somewhere between modern classical, film soundtrack and electronica, with plenty of live strings and piano.
Seahawks – Invisible Sunrise
Prolific cosmic Balearic duo Seahawks are back with a fine LP on their own Ocean Moon label. This time, unlike their last 7″ and CD only release, you can download it too. It’s typically slow, spacy and electronic, apparently for the first time using real live human musicians as well as samplers.
Mysterious ramblings and dinner invites on the Seahawks blog.
